My Trance Story

Where did you discover trance?

I was playing drums in a metal band and wanted to add synthesizer sounds to make it more special.But the band wasn't sure about that and didn't really accept my new influences. So I left the band and started producing electronic music at home. From there on I was playing around with different new ideas . I was listening to trance stuff and liked the atmosphere in it. Now I was able to do everything on my own descision the way I want it to be and the feel I want to create with music. So I came up with the first trance songs like Prestige "Unstable System", Ceylon "Immortal" and my main alias Ralph Novell with the first release "Wrong Love".

Who has been your biggest influence?

First of all it was more film music I was inspired by for the atmosphere. Composers like Thomas Newman and Mark Isham for example. In trance music it must have been Dumonde, Rank 1, RMB, 4Strings, Cosmic Gate...Those tunes with big atmosphere and power in them.

What moment would you live again if you could?

Oh..there are a lot... In general many things from the childhood, experiences during my skateboarding career, great travelings and special situations with friends/girls and so on... But with regards to to trance music I just would like to be back in time again as trance was big with more melody and emotions. But I hope this is coming back again! I want more great melodies!

Where in the world is trance-central?

Wherever you want...Just bring your mp3 player to a place you like (maybe a beach at night...watch the stars, listen to brilliant trance) and you have trance-central inside you. I also enjoy big shows like Trance Energy in Holland where you can feel big euphoria and energy.
