My Trance Story

Where did you discover trance?

Initially when I started Djing I was playing the big tunes of the time, the 1980s at which time I also moved to Norway to play for 7 years around Europe. I picked up my Euro trance influences around Europe playing at many German and Scandic clubs. Pretty soon I returned to the UK to start producing mixes for DMC and developed my passion for dance going out clubbing when I wasn't playing and eventually hooking up with Chris Jennings to produce our first trance tune "Shout" by Sagitaire. Shout was based on my 80s influence again through Tears for Fears hit and following a few more covers decided the cover samples thing was a pain and wrote our own song "Mirage" which really set us in good stead for what was to follow.

Who has been your biggest influence?

Id say all music really. from classics to rock and pop and dance music. We all find inspiration at some level and mine was certainly a love of music in its many styles.Few producers or singers really influenced me though I always enjoyed Oakies sets and Judge Jules has always been a primary inspiration not only from a professional perspective but a personal one too as he has time for everyone which is so important not to lose your own identity in the glamour of fame.

What moment would you live again if you could?

As far as my professional career goes, it would be hitting number one in the national charts again of course, then the Ibiza gig I did live on BBC Radio One on Fergies show to thousands across Europe and the world. That was unbelievable...also, playing between Jules and PVD live on air at the Planet Love Arena gig a few years ago. I loved it! there are many more gigs and events of course I would love to do again but few match the profile of those mentioned.

Where in the world is trance-central?

Trance central is deep within, from your heart to your mind and back again. if its making you buzz inside and your heads on a trip...you're there...alernatively, try Stoke on Trent at the weekend! haha :)
