Where did you discover trance?
I had been into the club scene in Scotland for a few years before I stumbled across the trance sound. I was used to visiting clubs in Scotland, DJ'ing and writing happy hardcore tracks back in around 1996/7 but when out partying one night I heard a DJ friend of mine drop Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar and I was simply blown away by the production and sound on it. The style captured my mind so it wasn't long before I was buying the tracks and in love with the trance scene.
Who has been your biggest influence?
I'd have to say Paul Van Dyk, he has always produced and DJ'ed in the style of dance music that I love - real energy, melodies and beats that just make a dance floor go crazy. Its amazing to now be working with the Vandit label and be part of the team along with Paul, a dream come true.
What moment would you live again if you could?
The Present... As much as the old days were great, I'm more of a forward thinking person and I love the way the music scene constantly changes and moves, new DJ's, new Producers means amazing new music to discover.
Where in the world is trance-central?
I think Holland is a real front runner in terms of the events they host. Trance Energy & Sensation being 2 of the biggest parties around for dance music and trance. They really know how to put on a party that's for sure. 2nd place would be a tie between the UK and Ibiza I think, so many good nights, you need a holiday just to recover from some of the parties.
