My Trance Story

Where did you discover trance?

I was into various types of dance music before trance so I think it was a gradual thing. I loved the Prodigy (and still do!) and Carl Cox when I was really young and went to see them before I'd even started drinking! By the time I'd started clubbing properly it was 1998 when trance was coming towards its peak and it was the music that we went out to week in week out, we'd listen to the Gatecrasher Red album during the week, looking forward to the weekend Since then I've always been into it and still love it today.

Who has been your biggest influence?

Trance wise it would have to be Paul Van Dyk, I love all his productions and he rocks as a DJ. I loved Nu NRG before they split, the emotion and drive in their tracks are second to none.

What moment would you live again if you could?

The first time I went to Manumission in Ibiza in 1999. It was out of this world. Judge Jules was playing, and I know he gets stick but he was rocking. A combination of the club, the music and the complete state we were in made it a crazy night!

Where in the world is trance-central?

Cream at Amnesia is trance central. Paul van Dyk playing last set, cant beat it!
