My Trance Story

Chuck-E & Jon The Baptist

Chuck-E & Jon The Baptist

Where did you discover trance?

Chuck-E: I first discovered the trance sound way back in the house, and old skool hardcore days of around 1992, I don't think the term 'trance' was used that much in the scene around this time, but I can always remember the trancier sounding records of that time, making me feel, and think differently to what the other music in my life would do. But moving swiftly on, it was much later around 1998-2000 that my musical preference evolved away from the rave scene, and I was amazed by artist's such as Scot Project, Rank 1, Dumonde, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, and Reverb from S.H.O.K.K. & Flutlicht. I was always a lover of the harder edged and European sound in trance, and at present time I love every second of being part of the JTB and Chuck-E project, projecting our 'European' sound from inside the UK.
JTB: When I opened the fridge of dreams and consumed the love yoghurt of trance. Mmmmm

Who has been your biggest influence?

Both: I would say at the beginning the harder edged people such as, Scot Project, DuMonde, S.H.O.K.K & Flutlicht, were the biggest influence in sound for DJ'ing. Production wise these days, and for the past few years we have really done what we love, and make music we feel we identify with, from a producers / musical, and also from a DJ's point of view, we aim to make phatt sounding productions that also create the atmosphere and buzz on the dance floor, We are trance DJ's & producers, but being in the 'hard dance scene' and UK based, you hear more of the UK sound, but we are happy to stick by our guns and don't want to stray from the sound we love, and the true sound of trance. We haven't been influenced by any thing for a good while other than the love for the European trance sound

What moment would you live again if you could?

Chuck-E: There have been so many great musical moments, the first tune I finished with Jon 'Intolerance', and every thing that came with it, Playing it out to a big crowd and watching every body go crazy, having it for the first time on vinyl etc.. There have been loads of gigs I would happily return to, but the 'Intolerance' things are probably the best especially the airing of it, tear jerking stuff Ha Ha Ha…

Where in the world is trance-central?

Both: I don't think we could really come up with 1 venue, city or country that could carry this great name. I suppose the whole of the planet could take the award? Next stop on the intergalactic shuttle, Earth- Trance central. Boss!
