My Trance Story

Where did you discover trance?

Well I hate to sound smug, but as Eve Records back in the early nineties we were one of the UK's original trance labels. This was long before I took over at the helm although as a producer I was remixing and releasing original tracks on the labels from 98 onwards. Pablo Gargano who was co owner of Eve back then is one of the true pioneers of the scene. For me personally it was also in the early nineties as a clubber that I first hooked into the trance tracks being played at Eric Powell's now infamous club nights and my earliest releases as half of Hampshire and Weatherley all had trance mixes on them. We were also lucky enough to remix Pablo's classic "Trance in Saigon"

Who has been your biggest influence?

My biggest single influence is probably Doug Osborne who signed my first record to Shift/Metropolitan many moons back and was also one half of Sourmash – who are probably one of my favourite all time artists. The early work I did with his company inspired me to start my first label, Interflow Sounds and it all just grew from there. Without his early support for what I was doing I don't think I would be doing what I am doing now.

What moment would you live again if you could?

All of the nineties – apparently I had a great laugh so it would be brilliant to go back and remember a little more of it.

Where in the world is trance-central?

Recoverworld HQ of course – where else?
