Where did you discover trance?
My first experiences of any "real" dance music were when a small club called The Emporium opened up where I lived in Coalville. Back then the music was a lot more house orientated but I was bitten by the bug straight away. Being fortunate enough to have a club of that magnitude where I lived meant that my tastes pretty much evolved with the clubs direction and by 1998 I was well and truly addicted to Trance! Ever since then it has remained my true sound as a clubber and as a DJ.
Who has been your biggest influence?
In the earlier days of clubbing I definitely feel that it was more about the Club itself rather than the DJ, so for me the club nights of Passion, Progress and Gatecrasher really shaped my musical tastes. Since DJ's became more prominent and in more recent times, artists Matt Hardwick, Paul Van Dyk and Judge Jules influenced me in different ways whether it be producing, mixing or general attitude towards what we're fortunate enough to be able to do.
What moment would you live again if you could?
The highlight of my Djing career so far has to be Passion's 10th B'day where myself and Marc West as Promoters landed Tiesto for a 3 hour set. The night was a total sell-out and I got to take to the decks for a 3 hour set after Tiesto. It came for me at a time when I had a selection of the most amazing tracks out at the time, and my set flowed effortlessly from start to finish. It still remains for me the best set I have ever played and to play it to a capacity crowd just made it all the better!
Where in the world is trance-central?
I don't think there is a 'Trance Central' any more. In years gone by it definitely would have been in the Midlands with Passion, Gatecrasher and Godskitchen all leading the rest but now with the aid of the WorldWide Web and DJ's becoming Global Icon's, music reaches to the corner of every continent. DJ's are spread more thinly around the globe from week to week and this has certainly reflected on the clubbing "scene" as we know it in the UK.
